In
October 2004, the American Zone announced a new format for 2005 Ranking. The
zone would be divided into three regions – North, Central and Caribbean and
South.
The North Region includes Canada, Mexico and USA.
Hazel McLeary, Canada, coordinator for the region has announced 11
Ranking Events which will be open to bowlers in this region. Please note that
the list of tournaments in Mexico is not available and will be published later. Additional
events in Canada and USA may also be added at a later date. The American Zone
Championships as well as the National Championships of the three countries in
the region will be eligible for ranking points for the participants.
- Points
will be awarded based on the finish among those players (men and women
separately) who have paid
the $25 ranking fee.
- Players
may compete in as many events as they wish in the North or any other region.
- Points
earned in another region will be added to points earned in their own region
- The
top 16 men and 16 women in each region with the highest point total will be
eligible for the final ranking tournament that will be held in December 2005
at a site to be determined. The
8 men and 8 women who will represent the American Zone at the World Ranking
Tournament will be selected from this event. The World Ranking Masters
includes the top 8 ranking men and women from the three zones, who will bowl
for a separate
prize fund. The 2006 WRM will be held in Kuwait.
